Synterra Media Unveils Updated Brand and Positioning

Synterra Media, a digital partner in the production, processing, and delivery of media content, has undergone a rebranding, introducing a new positioning, logo, visual language, and unique identity.

Since its inception in 2006, Synterra Media has seen significant changes not only in the Russian media market and the company's ownership structure but also in its business model. Initially, Synterra Media provided services in Moscow. Over time, it expanded to include a regional network for broadcasting sporting events, an international segment for delivering Russian TV channels to distribution networks, and its own media center in the capital.

In 2020, Synterra Media became part of the Rostelecom group of companies and launched the National Media Network. A key partner in this project was the media holding VGTRK. Today, the network connects over 200 nodes for guaranteed and secure delivery of TV signals in 85 regional capitals, from Kaliningrad to Anadyr.

In addition to TV delivery services, Synterra Media is developing other business areas. Since 2022, it has successfully operated the Playout service (assembly and broadcasting of TV channels). Currently, 52 TV channels are being formed at Synterra Media's broadcasting complex. Throughout its development, the product has expanded to include related services such as pre-air preparation, content storage, information security, protection and encryption of media content and traffic. Synterra Media also provides transcoding and delivery through CDN for over 400 TV streams.

The transformation of its business and services necessitated a brand update. The advertising agency «Rodnaya Rech» was the partner for this initiative. The new logo of Synterra Media symbolizes movement towards the client, the scalability of the business, and deep expertise in the market.

«On April 12, we will turn 18 years old. By this milestone, we have established a solid foundation: channel infrastructure, a National Media Network, one of the largest media centers in the country, and, most importantly, deep expertise in technologies for the media industry. The next step is to create a technological media space for the country, unique for each and safe for all—media holdings, streaming platforms, operators, viewers, and the state. The new style embodies the movement towards the client: we will reach any point in the country and promptly solve any technological challenge», said Grigory Uryev, General Director of Synterra Media.

«Synterra Media is a major player in the market for technological services for media. We aimed to create a trademark that succinctly conveys the company's business, priorities, history, and future outlook. Instead of modernizing the existing brand, we proposed a new, radical, and completely different one. Everything in the new logo has changed, from the base color to the font», noted Elena Sokolova, Lead Designer at Rodnaya Rech.

The next phase of the rebranding will involve updating the company's website and launching new products. This year, Synterra Media's ecosystem will be expanded with cloud services for content storage, processing, and production, a media exchange platform, information security products for media, and AI-based services for the media business.
